Chicago – 10/9/26 – Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced that a Chicago woman who stole personal checks and deposited them into her bank account while employed by the U.S. Postal Service pleaded guilty to theft.
Teneshya Harris, 37, pleaded guilty in Cook County Circuit Court to one count of theft by deception between $500 and $10,000, a Class 3 felony. Harris was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $6,400 in restitution. She paid $1,500 in court on Thursday and is ordered to pay the remaining amount by her probation termination date.
“Americans rely on the integrity and reliability of the U.S. Postal Service, and it is unacceptable that a Postal Service employee would take advantage of the public they are meant to serve,” Raoul said. “I will continue to partner with federal agencies to hold individuals accountable when they defraud the public for their own personal financial gain.”
Attorney General Raoul’s office alleges Harris was employed by the Postal Service when she allegedly stole checks from customers who were attempting to mail them through the Postal Service. After stealing the checks, Harris is alleged to have either forged them to be made out to her personally or even increased the amount of the check. Harris then allegedly endorsed the checks with her signature and deposited them into her personal bank account.
The case was referred to the Attorney General’s office by the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
Assistant Attorney General Skylar Hill prosecuted the case for Raoul’s Public Integrity Bureau.

Yeah boy, Steiner the phony wants more non career employees because they cost less. This demonstrates woeful ignorance of the true nature of mail delivery and the dedication of a professional letter carrier. Radicals in labor have converted hiring to a beauty contest, with too many hires bringing with them the lack of morals and ethics that plague society at large. And just like society at large, a numerical minority is responsible for the majority of thefts, absenteeism, and unprofessional behavior the USPS deals with. Not all, but too many are opportunists that have no work ethic and feel no duty to the service or the customer. The non career model has cost the USPS more in cash and reputation than it has ever saved.
