9/21/26 – Please find enclosed a copy of the above-reference USPS to begin piloting a proof of concept (POC) called the Marketing Mail Optimized Delivery (MMOD).
According to the Postal Service, the test will focus on specific conditions where a delivery point does not receive First Class Mail for a given day. The Marketing Mail for that delivery point will be handled and processed by deferring delivery for a maximum of one (1) day.
The MMOD will begin testing at two (2) locations. The Austin P&DC TX POC will be from September 21 through October 16 and involve the following zip codes: 78703 and 78751. The Boston P&DC MA POC will be from September 28 through October 23 and involve the following zips codes: 02128, 02129, 02152, 02143, 02144, 02145, 02149, and 02150.
Specific steps have been implemented to ensure election mail is not affected during the duration of this POC.
