Bronx, NY – 9/9/26 – The U.S. Postal Inspection Service arrested Junior Javier Pujols Calderon, 27, of Bronx, NY, on September 3, 2026, for stealing mail from a blue collection box located in upper Manhattan.

Postal inspectors began investigating thefts of mail in the area after a video clip circulating on social media showed Calderon fishing mail out of a collection box. Criminals are known to steal checks, personal identifiable information, credit cards, and sensitive financial information from the mail with the intention of committing fraud and ultimately stealing money from their victims.

“Postal inspectors will relentlessly pursue criminals who exploit the U.S. Mail system for their own personal financial gain,” said Ketty Larco-Ward, inspector in charge of the New York Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. “I commend our postal inspectors, in collaboration with detectives from the New York Police Department, for bringing mail thieves to justice.”

It is important to note that criminal charges are only allegations against a person. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The Postal Inspection Service is improving security measures to combat mail theft and to make it more difficult for criminals to tamper with collection boxes.
