6/24/26 – In a hearing before the Homeland Security Committee, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin questioned and pressed Postmaster General David P. Steiner on the health of the U.S. Postal Service and the latest actions to limit the use of mail-in voting by the Trump Administration.

  1. She wasn’t the only one that hijacked this hearing for political purposes. It was supposed to be about the state and future of the usps, but turned into a forum about ballots and the census. Steiner painted a future of gloom and doom unless he gets some cash, yet these folks had to turn it into political grandstanding. If there’s no USPS, then they won’t have to worry about mail in ballots and the census. Thankfully, Senator Hawley turned the focus back on where it needed to be, which is the disaster that is the USPS. It would seem that these other folks would be concerned about their constituents mail service as this was the forum to find out why service is so poor, no matter where in the country one lives. But nope, they’re worried about things that may be worth looking into, but this was not the proper venue, essentially letting Steiner off the hook. He was obviously glad to talk about anything except the real reason he was there.
