RE:
Late Friday afternoon, we received notification from the Postal Service regarding their
intent to withhold posting of the levels 18 and 18b that fall within the range of remotely
managed Post office (RMPO) and Part Time post offices (PTPO) levels. It
is understandable that some of our members may be concerned about this notification.
However, I want to assure everyone that no decision regarding these offices has been
made at this time. In addition, I want to make sure everyone understands these offices are
only being held if they become vacant and still may be filled if operationally necessary due
to location or staffing issues. There has been no discussion regarding offices that have
incumbent Postmasters. We, as an organization, will continue to monitor this evolving
situation and message any pertinent information as we receive it.
Sincerely,
Anthony Leonardi

Your members should be concerned. As the S and DC rollout marches on, those offices without carriers simply do not need full time postmasters and to even approach break even, EAS positions must be eliminated. The writer is a little too confident that the USPS will keep him informed and there’s nothing to worry about yet. He says that no decision has been made; I sure hope he’s not taking the USPS’S word for it. It sure seems that pretty soon a lot of people are going to have to make some tough decisions .
