“Love After Lockup” Star Sentenced for Burglary, Mail Theft at Chicago Condominium

Chicago, IL – On April 30, 2025, a joint investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Chicago Police
Department led to the felony conviction of reality television personality Dylan Smith, of Chicago, IL.

Smith, 35, who is featured in Season 3 of “Love After Lockup,” was arrested on June 4, 2024, after being identified as
the suspect responsible for a May 2024 apartment building burglary and subsequent mail theft in Chicago, IL. Smith
unlawfully utilized a U.S. Postal Service key to facilitate the burglary and mail theft from the condominium building’s
panel mailbox.

Smith pleaded guilty in Cook County Criminal Court and was convicted on one count of felony burglary. He was
sentenced to 244 days in jail — time served — and two years of supervised release.

the integrity of the U.S. Mail, and protecting United States Postal Service employees and customers,” said Ruth M.
Mendonça, Inspector in Charge of the Chicago Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. “We appreciate the
assistance of the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation to secure justice
for victims of mail theft in Chicago.”
