On November 12, 2024, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Nicole DeStefano, former Secretary-Treasurer of American Postal Workers Union (APWU) Local 776 (located in Altoona, Pa.), was charged with one count of embezzling union funds and three counts of filing false LM reports, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c) and 29 U.S.C. 439(b), respectively. The indictment follows an investigation by the OLMS Philadelphia-Pittsburgh District Office and the Blair Township Police Department.
