QUAD CITIES, Ill./Iowa (KWQC) – Police said a Moline postal supervisor stole mail he believed were greeting cards that contained cash or gift cards.
Justin Brown was arrested June 28 after Davenport Police searched his home and found 487 cards greetings cards for weddings, birthdays, graduations and Father’s Day, according to arrest affidavits.
All the mail found in his home was being sent from Illinois cities, including Geneseo, Moline, East Moline, Milan, Rock Island and Silvis.
Brown is charged in Scott County with ongoing criminal activity, a Class B felony.
According to Davenport Police, Brown was the Supervisor of Customer Service.
When the department’s Tactical Operations Bureau found the mail in his Davenport home, cards contained family photographs, messages between grandparents and grandchildren, get-well messages and personal checks. Based on messages written on the cards, police believe more cards contained cash or gift cards. Read more here.
