USPS mail truck hit by gunfire in Birmingham, AL

6/3/24 – An investigation is underway after someone opened fire on a U.S. Postal Service truck in Birmingham midday Monday.

The shooting is believed to have happened in the Inglenook community in the 4200 block of 40th Court North.

Postal officials said the incident happened at 12:15 p.m.

Shots were fired at all sides of the vehicle, said USPS spokeswoman Debra Jean Fetterly. A large bullet hole could be seen in the front windshield.

The mail carrier returned to the post office on Elizabeth Avenue to meet with Birmingham police. Authorities said the carrier was going to the hospital to be checked out. Read more at Al.com
