@Cop Watch obtained body camera footage of an incident that happened in Las Vegas, New Mexico that involved a retired cop and a United States Postal mailman.
Retired Las Vegas Police officer Robert Gutierrez told police he got physical with a postal worker and officers told Gutierrez they didn’t think him punching a federal employee would be an issue.
There were obvious signs of damage to the mailman. The fight started over a 3-week period of Gutierrez and the mailman disagreeing on politics. Las Vegas Police did not arrest Gutierrez, but the United States Postal service filed federal charges against him for assaulting one of their employees. He was released pending trial on the condition that he gets a mental health assessment and seeks treatment.

I was one of 5 siblings living in a home with an alcoholic father who was a police officer. He was verbally and at times physically abusive. Guess what? None of us turned out like this ex police officer who has Intermittent Explosive Control issues. If a person knows they have anger, or a tendency to lash out, they need to seek treatment.
Gutierrez is the product of the total failure by his parents, his supervisors and ex-coworkers. People like Robert Gutierrez usually learn their hostility and poor social skills at home from their parents. Growing up, they rarely ever hear the word NO and are spoiled to the point of stupidity. By his own words, Gutierrez didn’t agree with the postal workers politics. I wonder where he was on Jan. 6th.
It’s sad that innocent people have to suffer abuse, false arrest or false testimony of an immature officer that isn’t capable of dealing with day to day problems of life.
Did the ex-cop get sentenced? I can’t find any follow up story on this.
He admitted battery on a federal employee. He needs to be locked up to the maximum extent of the law. There should be no special exceptions for law enforcement officers to batter people than there are for ordinary citizens to batter people.
I have no sympathy for this clown.
MFer needs to serve time!
can we call that special treatment from the local police? The cops allow him to go inside his house to find his driver’s license, really. Anybody else would have been arrested on the spot.
