From NALC Branch 358:
Over 230 post offices nationwide will be test sites for this process. Phase 1 will be in May, Phase 2 in June, and Phase 3 in August.
Under this test, carriers will either be “casing multiple routes” or “delivering on the street for 7 hours and 45 minutes”.
NALC has filed a national level grievance. Management gives NALC millions in grievance settlements every year. Countless settlements are for recurring problems that have already been won by NALC. This is yet another case of ignoring safety and procedure.

Carriers can barely do their routes now the way they are breaking their asses with mail, flats, SPRs, Parcels, DPS and FSS. So now they want carriers to deliverer almost 8 hours in the street with OT on heavy days. I see tons of safety issues, sickouts due to burnout and more time working in the dark. This is doomed to fail.
One more thing, the article says that it will increase available floor space. Now you will just see more of a dirty, dusty, piece of flooring that the janitor might or might not clean once a year. If I hadn’t experienced this company, I would honestly have a hard time believing it.
Expected street time of 7 hours and 45 minutes every day. Some of the carriers won’t even be able to walk by the time Friday rolls around. I have a hard time believing that they think this is a great idea. The rear end kissers will be hounding the bosses to be a “caser” instead of a carrier. Also, I would hate to think about how frustrating it would be to carry a route that some sloppy schlep put together. Dear God in heaven, thank you for letting me be a retiree when I see what these knuckle heads are doing now. And of course, no input from the NALC as they sit in the leather chair away from it all.
Yeah, and the carriers union probably eagerly lapped up the news, said great, and can we help u to reduce carrier pay to level 4 since their job is so much easier now. The blind leading the blind in Washington. The only difference is who pays them for doing nothing, the post office or carriers. So sad
This has already been tried years ago and like all mgmt. ideas from people who have never done the job, it was a colossal failure, as it will be again.
The definition of insanity; doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Idiots.
