PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon State Police investigators briefly detained a person of interest in connection with suspicious letters sent to at least 20 government offices around the state.

No arrests have been made. A police spokesman said the person of interest was detained for questioning in Eugene, then later released. The person was not considered a threat to the public. Read more
