U. S. Postal Inspection Service Reports Six Carrier Uniforms Stolen in Rock Hill, SC

The public should beware of imposters in Postal Carrier clothing without proper picture ID, say U. S. Postal Inspectors in the Charlotte Division. Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, a thief, who broke into multiple storage units rented by a Postal employee, made off with six uniforms and one jacket, all with USPS logos.

“Both postal employees and customers should be aware and call local authorities if someone acts suspiciously,” said Postal Inspection Service Public Information Officer, Justin Crooks. “Anyone who is suspicious of a Postal employee should ask for a U. S. Postal Service picture ID. If the person cannot produce identification, you should notify authorities. Postal employees should be maintain tight security for Postal facilities and monitor those entering any building, challenging unknown entrants for proper ID. This theft is a misdemeanor, but using the uniforms to perpetrate a crime would be a federal offense.”
