Changes to the internal management of mail transport equipment (MTE) — an initiative to reduce costs — is the subject of DPMG and COO Pat Donahoe’s latest Field Updates segment.

According to Donahoe, the Postal Service this fiscal year is changing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for MTE handling and distribution, and reducing from 23 to 15 the number of MTE service centers in its nationwide network.

Donahoe says training videos and new SOPs will be developed to educate employees about this transition to improve the availability, handling and transportation of MTE. Information also will be available on the Network Operations Blue page, along with both a telephone and an e-mail MTE hotline.
