USPS has announced a potential reduction in force (RIF) and a new voluntary early retirement authority for Sales employees.

To meet current and future business needs, USPS has realigned its Sales organization. The new structure corresponds more closely with the Postal Service’s operational areas and allocates resources to take advantage of business opportunities with the highest revenue potential.

Potentially impacted employees are being notified. The Sales organization RIF will be effective Dec. 4.

Sales vacancy postings will be available on eCareer later this month. Qualified Sales employees, impacted and non-impacted, can apply. Postings will be open for seven calendar days.

To avoid missing out on a potential job opportunity, log on to eCareer today, create your profile and begin your search for jobs.

Employees can access eCareer online using any postal or non-postal computer. You’ll need your 8-digit Employee Identification Number and Personal Identification Number (PIN) if you log on using a non-postal computer. If you’ve forgotten your PIN, follow the prompts on LiteBlue to get a new one.

A new voluntary early retirement (VER) offering is now also open to eligible employees in the Sales organization. USPS will mail annuity estimates and VER offer packets to eligible employees starting Aug. 4. The effective date for retirement is Oct. 31.

Additional information about the current restructuring is available on the Organization Changes (Blue) website. VER information also is available under the Hot Topics sections on Blue and LiteBlue.

  1. I agree to many managers not because of their merits but whom they know.my manager don’t even know how to talk to customers she will call police dept. In a minute. This is not the way I treat my customers if I own this place. This is fact because some manager think no body can check on them and nobody can fire them. I think o I g should look into it.

  2. potter out cut sales decrees customer service increased possibility of injury where did this guy get his business sense from? he is going to run the USPS out of business. Some one must have the sense to see that the fat at the top is the easiest and most bang for the buck to be trimmed.!!!!!

  3. Yes, just what is needed, get rid of sales because apparently we want none. Way past time for a Potter rif.

  4. From what I have observed recently, it appears to me that all postal craft employees will be assigned a personal management person who will stay
with us person to person all shift long. After all, we need to be supervised
constantly to perform and especially to provide all of the USPS managers
something to do (someone to harass)

  5. I guess it makes too much sense to trim the fat off the top.. We have too many managers in the postal service…

  6. What needs to be RIF is POTTER{PMG} and his many, many VP’S. I know he has over 40. Cut the management fat FIRST.
