‘Staffing shortfall’ contributed to mail problems in Larchmont

After federal officials called on the United States Postal Service to make public its investigation into year-long delivery problems in southern Westchester, the agency said Monday it is addressing a “staffing shortfall” that contributed to lackluster service.

“Upon review of staffing concerns, we did identify some long-term issues among employees that contributed to a staffing shortfall,” USPS spokesman George Flood said in a statement.

To tackle complaints of missing and irregular mail delivery, the agency has, in recent months, hired a new permanent postmaster, carrier assistants and boosted training for new employees. Read more at Lohud
