Royal Mail expands its ‘click and collect’ network

More shoppers in the United Kingdom can now collect their Internet purchases from a local Post Office — another example of how posts around the world are changing to keep up with the boom in online retailing.
Royal Mail, the U.K. postal service, recently expanded its local collect service to include 20,000 small businesses.
These retailers will be able to offer collection points at about 10,500 Post Office branches — the largest “click and collect” network in the United Kingdom.
“Royal Mail is enabling shoppers to have greater control over the delivery of their items. Home shoppers already trust us more than any other national parcels carrier to deliver their online orders,” said Nick Landon, managing director of Royal Mail Parcels.
In the United States, the Postal Service offers Hold for Pickup, which allows customers to designate a Post Office where they would like their shipments held.
