USPS – 5/7/14
MobileACE — a phased rollout of smartphones — will begin in mid-May, providing employees with options for replacing or upgrading their BlackBerrys.
Headquarter employees recently had an opportunity to test the features of the new smartphones.
“The new smartphone devices will better align the Postal Service with the trending needs of a mobile workforce and increase employee productivity and responsiveness,” said CIO Jim Cochrane.
“Employees will now have Postal apps available on their smartphones, aiding their productivity and allowing them to be more flexible from the traditional working hours,” added John Edgar, Information Technology VP.
Current BlackBerry users will receive emails with detailed instructions for ordering and activating one of the following new smartphones:
- iPhone
- Samsung Galaxy
- BlackBerry
Upgrading to the new smartphones is voluntary and at the user’s convenience, once the email from IT is received.
Edgar says that returning their old BlackBerry is a win-win for the Postal Service. USPS will receive trade-in-credits for returned devices and each will be recycled, supporting the Postal Service’s green initiatives.
Why can’t the top brass concentrate on the non sexy, non trendy things we do that actually make money and provide services.
A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. Smartphones used by dumb****s = idiots.
