Video: New Haven postal worker retires after 54 years

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Some say that work ethic and loyalty are hard to find in modern times, and today New Haven postal workers are saluting a colleague who has typified both for more than half-a-century.

News 8?s Jeff Valin sums up the career of Lloyd Seals by the numbers.

It is hard to fill the shoes of a man who has taken an estimated five million footsteps on the job.

“February 13th, 1960, I started,” said Seals.

Fifty-four years and 90,000 work hours later, retirement is doing what neither snow nor rain, nor dark of night could. New Haven postal carrier Lloyd Seals is hanging up his mail bag.

“Try to do a good job every day and try to treat the customers right, and they always respect you,” he said. Read more.
