To support the four core USPS business strategies outlined by PMG Pat Donahoe, President and Chief Marketing/Sales Officer Paul Vogel says corporate success will depend on employees remaining focused on growing the business and generating new revenue.
This formula for success includes offering great products and prices, great service, easy access and excellent customer care, says Vogel, whose group oversees Channel Access, Domestic and Global Products, Pricing and Sales, Strategic Marketing, and Advertising.
To help strengthen the business-to-consumer channel USPS will improve its core business by continuing to offer First-Class Mail incentive programs and promoting direct mail, according to Vogel. And improving the customer experience will involve working with suppliers and the mailing industry to expand access, simplify processes, and create the products and services customers want and need.
Flat-rate pricing offered by USPS already has spurred growth in the package business, but continued success depends on continuing high levels of service and high scanning rates.
Finally, becoming a leaner, faster, smarter organization means making it easier to do business with the Postal Service. This includes simplifying Domestic Mail Manual mailing requirements and pricing, developing quicker and simpler processes for closing sales contracts, and reducing the time needed to bring new products and services to market.
