LONGMONT, Colo. — A mail carrier who was attacked by three dogs on Tuesday has a 75-year-old man and an 84-year-old man to thank.

“We are no heroes,” Jim Peeples and Earl Tifford said.

Peeples and Tilford  both live on Ash Court in Longmont and when they saw their mailman in distress came running armed with a shovel and a trowel.

Tilford, trowel in hand, ended up getting slightly bit by the animals as well.

The mailman is resting comfortably and is expected to return to work soon. USPS officials say they are working on officially recognizing the men for their heroic action. Read more
