Video: Mail thefts in North Carolina lead to investigation

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Officials are investigating a recent string of mail thefts in south Charlotte and Matthews areas.

In a letter NBC Charlotte obtained from a victim of mail theft, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service wrote that southeast Charlotte zip codes 28210, 28211, 28270 or 28277 were all areas where mail may have been taken, as well as in neighborhoods in and around Matthews.

“Almost taken advantage of,” said John Cosh. “And there’s no way you can really protect yourself from that.”

Two days ago, Cosh received an envelope from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
