NAPS – August 17, 2018 – On April 12, 2018, President Donald Trump issued an executive order calling for the creation of a task force with the explicit duty to examine and evaluate the business model of the United States Postal Service. The EO required the task force to submit a report on its finding and recommendations of reform to the President no later than 120 days from the date of the order, or Friday, August 10. As of yet, the task force’s report has not been made available to the public.
On May 21, 2018, the NAPS Legislative Team met with members of the task for to discuss issues of concern, including the need for thoughtful reforms that ensure the sustainability of the postal service and upholds universal service obligations.
Further complicating the matter, the Office of Management and Budget independently called for the privatization of the postal service. NAPS National President Brian Wagner responded to this, stating, “In calling for the privatization of the United States Postal Service, the Trump Administration has charted a misguided path that will put universal mail service for all Americans at risk.”
At this time, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is expected to hold a hearing in early September on the task force report, which will shed light on its findings. As always, NAPS will keep its members abreast of any news regarding the postal task force or threats of privatization.

the Postal Circus has evolved into a very corrupt organization run for the sole purpose of gaming the system for PFP (Pay For Performance) Bonus Scam Money. customers are an afterthought. another problem is the limited/lite/IOD injury employees, because the po mismanagement did not pay into the State Unemployment System the Postal Circus let them stack up like core wood to the tune of 95,000…..add the 110,000 Mismanagers of all stripes (diversity coordinator, diversity manager, diversity director etc you get the picture) to this and you get 205,000 who do not touch the mail vs 380,000 workers getting the mail out. of course, you always have people vested in maintaining the status quo…..the ones who ran it into the dirt and ran up 210 Billion in liabilities. according to the GAO the place is basically bankrupt that will need taxpayer money to be bailed out. the current PMG should be fired for incompetence. a house on a rotten foundation will not stand! nepotism hires in po mismanagement should be banned.
I recently retired from the USPS, and believe one of the problems is the number of supervisor positions. The number of levels of management is crazy. The number of rank and file clerks has been going down the past ten years, as the number of managers has gone up. The number of hours spent on checking scans of parcels is unbelievable.

“The Trump Administration has charted an misguided path”? What about the path some of you supervisors have taken in your lives? I hope the Trump people put the hammer down and start cleaning what is nothing less than a very filthy house. They need to give you some satchels and put you back to the job you had trouble doing in the first place.
