LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — An apartment surveillance camera catches the moment a United States Postal carrier truck is ditched in central Las Vegas.

Metro Police say the man seen running had carjacked a mailman at a neighborhood near Flamingo Road and Eastern Avenue.

The suspect was armed with a gun. Two hours later, the postal truck was found at an apartment complex near Eastern and Desert Inn.

Elizabeth Maldonado lives in the neighborhood where the postal carrier truck was left.

“What I heard that the guy asked him for a ride and he said no. He pulled him out,” Maldonado said.

Maldonado saw the abandoned postal truck before police arrived. Sometime later, the apartment surveillance camera also caught the suspect returning to the complex.

He pulls up in a stolen Honda he took from the apartment parking lot after he dumped the mail truck. The suspect then jumps out of the car and back inside the postal truck. He’s then seen leaving with a tray of mail.  More at KSNV Las Vegas
