Ohio letter carrier rescues customer from house fire

Akron, OH, Letter Carrier Kizzy Spaulding was delivering mail when she saw smoke coming from a house on her route.

She knocked on the door and called for the customer, but didn’t get a response. So she looked through a window and saw her lying on the floor.

Spaulding entered the house and pulled the woman to safety. She then called 911 and stayed with the customer until medical help arrived.

Spaulding later received a thank-you letter from the PMG for her commitment to helping others and for being the eyes and ears of the community.
