When Oakland Park, FL, Letter Carrier Mark Gereffi saw a woman on the ground in front of her home, he rushed to her side. The woman told him she thought she was having a heart attack and asked him to call 911.

Gereffi followed the 911 operator’s instructions and talked with the woman to keep her calm.

While waiting for paramedics to arrive, Gereffi also called the woman’s husband.

When paramedics arrived, they told Gereffi the woman was having a stroke and took her to the hospital.

Thanks to Gereffi’s efforts, the woman is recovering.
