Video: Never Put A Check In Your Mailbox

You know the saying – the check is in the mail. But really you should never put a check in your mail box. And now – not in the blue collection boxes if its after hours.

Thieves have figured out a way to steal mail right out of them. Justin Steele, a US Postal Inspector, says, “It can be as simple as a piece duct tape or it can be as elaborate as metal sheet wrapped in duct tape and they’ll throw that into one of our blue collection boxes and pull it out with attached string or a long tail and they will have all the mail stuck to it.”

“They would fish out the mail, take the checks that they could get, they would then wash them, put their information on them, go and negotiate the check and walk out with the money,” says Justin. Read more
