In January the USPS Board of Governors  directed USPS management to accelerate the restructure of Postal Service operations to further reduce costs in order to strengthen Postal Service finances. PMG Donahoe is expected to make a major announcement this Wednesday at a press conference regarding this subject.

PEN Editor: could this announcement possibly cease Saturday delivery? or speed up the closing of post offfices across the nation? we’ll have to wait and see.

We were told all the 2014 closures have been changed to March 2013. Delivery standards are also changing to two day local delivery and Saturday delivery will end now.

  2. TP says:

Let me retire now. CSRS – 35 years service. 54 years old in March 2013. It will save them money if they offer ALL CSRS employees the incentive to retire early.

  3. Mike says:

cant end Saturday untill law is changed. Only congress and president can do that

  4. Greg says:

August will be the end of Saturday delivery

  5. Joyce says:

Looks like we get screwed again. Early out without an incentive won’t really help much. Takng a cut for the rest of your life isn’t much of an incentive. Write your representatives and let them know how you feel. The prefunding of Health Benefits is/has destroyed the Postal Service.
