On October 13, 2026, in the District Court of Cleveland County, Oklahoma, Suzanne Vela, former Treasurer of National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 1491 (located in Norman, Okla.), pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement, in violation of 21 O.S. 1451. Vela was then sentenced to five years in prison (deferred) and one year of active probation. Vela was also ordered to pay $6,479 in restitution. The guilty plea and sentencing follow an investigation by the OLMS Dallas-New Orleans District Office.
