USPS tells us there are city letter carrier reassignment opportunities available

For 15 years, Dan Lausidio operated sorting machines and the Optical Character Reader at the South Jersey Distribution Center in Bellmawr, NJ. Although he liked his job, he wanted to spend more time with his wife and kids and work more standard hours. That’s when he made the decision to become a city letter carrier in Medford, NJ.

City letter carriers deliver and collect mail on foot or by vehicle in a specific area, often interacting with customers on their routes, which requires a general familiarity with postal regulations, products and services.

“I made a great choice becoming a city letter carrier,” said Lausidio. “I have never looked back.”

Lausidio made a successful transition — an opportunity which is currently open to career employees represented by the National Postal Mail Handlers Union and the American Postal Workers Union ? by using eReassign on LiteBlue.

The Postal Service now has a limited number of city letter carrier positions available for reassignment, and eligible career employees are encouraged to use eReassign if interested in reassignment to the carrier craft. This opportunity is limited to career employees; therefore, casuals, Transitional Employees (TEs), Rural Carrier Associates (RCAs), and Postal Support Employees (PSEs) are not eligible to request reassignment.

Go to LiteBlue for Frequently Asked Questions about eReassign. Employees need their Employee ID and USPS PIN numbers to log in.

  1. What about reassignment from carrier craft to mail handler or clerk craft. Will there be opportunities to do that ?

  2. I got the letter telling us about reassignment ops, so being in the Northern New England district I checked. Some moron needs to be fired because it came up No Results Found on eReassign.
Way to go P.O., I see you got our backs.
