Postal service employee begs for gloves, mask to protect herself during coronavirus

  1. Ms. Clayton, along with her coworkers, should have a sneeze/cough guard at the retail counter. All employees should have masks, gloves provided, sanitizer and ability to wash up frequently. There should be a custodian cleaning MORE frequently. (our office the contract custodian is just as bad as before the virus, you don’t know if they will show up or not and when they do its not for the contracted time they are supposed to work)
I am majorly discouraged with the manner in which USPS has handled Ms. Claytons office and in our area also (in south).
When the 6′ distancing was announced. I inquired about the tape and was met with a curt reply by postmaster “what do you expect me to go to the store and buy colored tape?” (postmaster did eventually place markers on floor)
Same problem has been with sneeze/cough guard and enforcing distancing and masks with employees.
I learned early if you want something done you have to do it yourself. Customers provided us clorox wipes early, employees donated material for sneeze/cough guard, and customers have made and provided masks to our employees.
A few weeks later USPS offered to reimburse employees for the supplies that they purchased. So that was a surprise.
I agree with Ms. Clayton it is stressful to continually handle transactions with customers that still do not wear masks or honor distancing. End of March, part of April I was majorly stressed working with the public with no protection (major headaches). We are busier then normal, so there is an increase of customers. Which customer is going to give us the virus?

Additional problem with us is the workers won’t wear their protective gear, now that USPS has supplied.
Or they allow workers from other offices that have been exposed to move around to other offices. I feel for Ms. Clayton and all the postal workers across the nation.
