A Midland Park postal worker who twice fled a deadly hit-and-run accident in Ridgewood will serve 364 days in county jail, a Superior Court judge ruled on Friday.

Rafael Ramos stood quietly in a Bergen County courtroom Friday after pleading guilty in the 2018 roadway death of Edward Rao, a Ridgewood real estate agent.

Authorities said Ramos, 48, told police he drove “over something” on West Ridgewood Avenue one night in September that year, and returned to find the 54-year-old Rao lying in the street. Ramos spoke with police at the scene, but left again without mentioning his role in the collision. He was arrested a week later. More at NorthJersey.com
