
Argus Leader – 4/11/16 – The former treasurer of the South Dakota Postal Workers Union who admitted to embezzling more than $30,000 was sentenced Monday to one year of federal probation.
Susan M. Haugen was indicted on three counts of embezzlement and theft of labor union assets. She took a deal with prosecutors that ended with her pleading guilty to one count and having the remaining counts dismissed.
As part of Haugen’s sentence, she must repay the $30,782.56 taken from the union. Read more

On January 26, 2016, in the United States District Court for South Dakota, Southern Division, Susan Haugen, former Treasurer of the South Dakota American Postal Workers of America (APWU) State Association (located in Huron, S.D.), pled guilty to one count of embezzlement of union funds in the amount of $30,782, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). The plea follows an investigation by the OLMS Detroit-Milwaukee District Office.
