7/27/18 – No matter how old we are, be it a child in grade school, or a middle aged adult in the work force, at any given time, we can all fall prey to a bully. This is not as much a message about an abusive employer as it is a message to my son about bullies.

this guy is exactly correct best of luck to him as a recently retired rural carrier after 24 years and very happy to finally gone from the disfunctional hostile workplace
Jake, on paper that is how it is supposed to happen. In reality, not so much. With short staffing nationwide, being a regular not on the otdl means nothing as mandated ot happens on a daily basis.
In our office, since the cca fiasco was started, we’ve been working six days a week for five of the past seven years, regulars, otdl or not. This is occurring in many offices nationwide for the same reason.
Like most mgmt. ideas, the cca one is a colossal failure, that is actually costing the USPS more not less, than if the ptf class had been kept as is.
Also as usual, no one in mgmt. will be held accountable in any way, while the crafts continue to be blamed for the USPS financial problems.
This guy’s points are 100% accurate. People aren’t afraid to work hard. But they’re not going to do that, and be treated like crap too, which is the USPS way.
100% truth.
I tried as a CCA and then as a Clerk in a Distribution Center. But, what happen in a local office is nothing compared with the “CHAOS” in the Distribution Center. You can see mail left everywhere, including the belts and the old equipment and machines used, etc.
I do not, really understand how much mail is not delivered on time nor even delivered at all.
Also, how they recruit people for the Holiday Season??? Lying … You know that it is only a casual season job of 3 or 4 weeks when you have waste time going for an interview far away more than one hour of driven. Then everything is a lie. They assign you to one shift and then at last minute, after you have make arrangement to take care of your kids, they assign you to a completely different shift. Then, they pretend you work for hours and hours moving from one place to other, carrying your food and backpack, as if you were a pariah … A
At the end, if you resign you not get paid and your are reported as Terminated …
CCAs are informed of what the job requires during the interview. It is NOT a secret you are going to work long hours for days on end. Of course your going to work on Sundays and holidays to deliver parcels. This is also explained to every CCA. CCAs are a supplemental workforce used to reduce overtime, deliver parcels on Sundays & holidays, and to cover vacant routes as needed. CCAs do get converted to regular carrier and then they no longer work on Sundays or holidays (except for maybe Christmas). Regular carriers also chose if they want to work overtime or not. Gotta pay your dues first then you have a good job with good benefits.
