CARUTHERS, Calif. (KMPH) — What if we told you that there is a way for crooks to steal your mail and your identity right now. And there seems to be no way to stop it. That’s what happened recently in Caruthers, and the family that was hit says it’s still paying the price.

So how did the crooks do it?

If you’re planning a summer vacation, you will likely head to the post office and fill out an authorization to hold your mail.

But did you know that there is a loophole in the U.S. Postal System that still allows crooks to get your mail?

That’s what happened to the Ronlake family in Caruthers, and they say it’s costing them thousands of dollars and family members’ identities.

Todd Ronlake said, “I need some assistance in getting this resolved. It’s financially going to cost my family for years to come. I don’t know when this is going to end.”

Ronlake says he is the victim of identity theft and says the United States Postal Service is to blame. Read more
