In his recent editorial ‘THE RECORD’ former APWU president Bill Burrus details HIS opinion as to why the incumbent Wisconsin governor (Scott Walker) came out a winner in the recent recall election. We all know that many postal employees, of ALL races, fought hard and long against Gov. Walkers’ actions and his election.
In his editorial Burrus states “The results are that approximately 70% of white males voted to end collective bargaining, reduce wages and benefits for government workers and these same politicians oppose birth control, Social Security, Medicare and tax cuts for the wealthy.” He further states “The point of my post is that white males vote contrary to their interest and the statistics confirm this inconsistency.”
So, are we to believe that white males are this nations enemies? This may well be true…IF you share Burrus’ opinion.
Burrus tells readers “Using money as an excuse, the question turns then to why the negative campaigning appeals more to white males than others? So whatever the excuse, the record shows that their actions as a group are inconsistent with logic. The record speaks for itself. Go figure!”

Mr. Burrus told the truth. Get over it. The truth really hurts when you have to look in the mirror and realize the evil one is staring right back at you. The truth is never easy.
The white working class males are voting against their self interest. They have stated they are not voting for Romney but against Obama. The reasons are not economic as the national statistics indicate whites enjoy higher employment rates than blacks or Hispanics. It has more to do with the American exceptionalism and self image and this new sense of impotency and inferiority is clouding their judgment.
White Americans are not adjusting well to the fact that after spending 400 million annually for the last 60 years and 750 billion annually in the last decade on the military, the last 3 major wars have been dismal failures Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. America’s image is tarnished as an overrated superpower with nothing to show for it and the fact the country will soon be bankrupt is proof by voting for BushW they voted against their self interest. Voting against Obama because they feel he is weak on National Security is again voting against success. Obama took out Osama Bin when a trillion dollars and 2 terms of BushW could not, boggles the mind.
So why are the working white males wanting to elect another bungling military dodger Romney who will be a repeat of BushW on steroids? It is the hope that Romney can ease their insecurity which is equivalent to the PTSD returning veterans suffer from, the shock and awe of colossal failure. But how can they ignore the fact Romney is a pathological liar and dangerously delusional? They can because the same was said about Jesus.
In short it might appear they are voting against their interest but not if you consider where their interest are and the parallel universe they live in.
WOW…. If that isn’t a racist statement, I don’t know what is. Looks more to me like the only point of that statement is the little “pointy thing” (ie.dunce cap) on the top of his head. MAYBE…just MAYBE….the silent majority in Wisconsin and America in general are tired of the social engineering program going on in this country. Where were the unions when the democrats voted down the Keystone pipeline??? Hundreds of thousand of GOOD UNION jobs swept under the rug, how about the Oakland Bridge Contracts in California being awarded to a Chinese company and Chinese workers??? The list goes on and on. Bottom line, the UNIONS ought to be worried about pushing for AMERICAN jobs for AMERICAN workers…put rather bluntly…blow me SEIU and blow me LIUNA. I’m voting republican along with a growing number of other UNION workers who are tired of the “VOCAL MINORITY” thinking they know what is best for us.
a majority of postal workers are white? where did u get that information? quit whining about what other people make and do something to better yourself. If you spent as much time trying to better yourself as you do complaining you might make more too. quit being envious and make more money you have every opportunity to do so no matter the color of your skin!!
I tend to agree with the Burrus assessment of white working class males voting against their own best interests. Look at what the white boys did with the APWU Contract and it was totally concessionary and against the best interests of the workers and the majority of the postal workers are white and the majority of the postal workers voted in this contract.
Keep in mind that the unions in Wisconsin gave Walker the pay and benefits to him so that he and his legislature would pay for, at least, the tax cuts that he gave the wealthy that broke the state – but they only only baulked and bucked when the wanted to take away their right to collectively decide to give up their pay and benefits as opposed to him taking them. White people, for the most part just don’t get it and their Unions that are controlled, largely, by wealthy old white men with all expenses paid seem to like to support a system that is out to destroy them as opposed to fighting for social, political, and economic justice for the working class of this country. Ho_hum.
