I was a rural carrier, promoted to AS on 3/16/07 and went from $36,000 to the “SDA Minimum” of $58,000. I usually made about $70,000 with “T” time (straight time overtime), until they killed that in 2009. When I retired in ’12, my base was $68,000 and “Top” was $73,000 or so. (We had no raises for 2 years, I think.)
In 2007 I passed all of the exams and processes for the ASP positions in Chicago. Unfortunately at the final fingerprinting, the person coordinating could not confirm salaries prior to candidates given notice to current employers. We had been told throughout the process salaries would be comparable to what we were making if employed.
I had to make the decision to stay with my current employer at the time because I just could not walk away without knowing my new salary. The economy crashed so sometimes I wonder if I should have just taken the risk at the time because the job I did not leave ended up laying off a few months later in 2008.
Was anyone placed as a supervisor from the 2007 ASP program? I am just curious what happened in the end.
