Postal Service confirms Winona, MN postmaster is suspended and under investigation

Customers of one southeast Minnesota post office say some of their mail isn’t making it into their mailboxes.

This comes at the same time as the postmaster in Winona is suspended and under investigation, which has been confirmed by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

While the agency wouldn’t confirm why she’s being investigated, their job is to look into crime and fraud against the U.S. Postal Service, including mail theft and embezzlement.

“It was over a year ago,” said Barbara Dufresne, who lives in Winona.

Dufresne tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS she’s one of many who has lost mail through this Winona facility.

“Just over the last year I have had a lot of pieces of mail that have not gone where they’re supposed to,” Dufresne said.

Dufresne reported it to the Postal Service, but still no answers. More at ABC News Minneapolis
