RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – The family whose truck was hit by a mail man, who police say was driving drunk on the job, believes the crash could have been much worse.
“We heard this loud crash…me and my husband both ran outside,” said Morgan Sanchez.
It was Sunday around 2:30 in the afternoon when Morgan and Chris Sanchez found a mess in their front yard.
“We just saw the mail truck in our front yard and the guy was out… he fell out of car,” said Sanchez.
Police say the man driving that postal truck before plowing into their red pick-up was Kevin Brown, a 28-year-old mail carrier.
“Then I ran up to him and was like, are you okay? Cause he was all bloody from probably hitting the pavement and getting road rash and stuff,” she said.
Sanchez said she and her husband immediately called for help, but Brown didn’t want it.
“He was like, no I’m fine, I’m fine, let me call my boss. I need to call my boss.”
She said at first she didn’t think Brown was drunk. More at KRQE
