Nacogdoches, TX, Letter Carrier Dan Capacete was delivering mail when he came upon a man who had driven a tractor into a wire fence and was pinned under a pole. Capacete, a trained paramedic, called 911 and stayed with the man until emergency responders arrived and took him to a hospital. Capacete later learned the man injured his leg and shoulder but was expected to recover.

Belton, SC, Rural Carrier Ivory Beaty was driving a vehicle on her route when she spotted a woman lying in a yard and stopped to help. The woman said she was gardening when she fell and couldn’t get back to her feet. Beaty helped the woman get up and into her house. After the woman assured her she didn’t need medical attention, Beaty continued on her route.

When an employee at a postal facility in White Plains, NY, collapsed, stopped breathing and began bleeding from the mouth, two of his co-workers sprang into action. Maintenance Operations Supervisor James Lamake and Building Equipment Mechanic Anthony Volpe used CPR and a defibrillator to revive the man. Emergency responders arrived and took the man to a hospital, where he underwent heart surgery. He’s expected to recover.

Sicklerville, NJ, Letter Carrier Anthony Di Mauro was on his route when he noticed a house was on fire. He called 911 and ran to the house to alert the residents, who safely escaped and waited for emergency responders to arrive. The residents later sent a card to the Post Office to thank Di Mauro for saving their lives and their home.
