STRATEGIC PRIORITIES OF USPS DRIVE

KICKING INTO GEAR
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES OF DRIVE, PART TWO

The Postal Service’s high-level initiative to review and improve the organization’s business management practices — “Delivering Results, Innovation, Value and Efficiency” (DRIVE) — is guided by eight strategic priorities. An earlier article outlined the first four.

The remaining four priorities also play an important role in the overall effort and include:

  • Robust Stakeholder Management. The goal of this priority is to deepen relationships with stakeholders to improve communications and coordination with legislative and regulatory audiences. Deeper stakeholder relationships also will improve the customer experience and continue development of USPS sustainability efforts.
  • Robust Employee Engagement. This priority will strengthen talent development, recruiting, retention, overall employee engagement and the impact an educated, well-trained work force has on relationships with stakeholders.
  • Financial Capabilities and Cash Management. This priority focuses on cost and revenue reporting to improve management decisions, cut costs and increase revenue.
  • Executive Transparency. The goal of this priority is to improve the consistency, speed, and effectiveness of decision making and also strengthen coordination among USPS senior managers by developing a cross-functional calendar and tracking for major events.
