PITTSBURGH – A highway contract route driver has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of theft of mail, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.<\/p>\n

The one-count indictment, returned on Feb. 3, named April Kovach, 39, of Yatesboro, Pa.<\/p>\n

According to the indictment, on or about Oct. 8, 2014, Kovach did abstract and remove two $20 Federal Reserve notes that had been the contents of a greeting card envelope addressed to an individual in Cranberry Township. \"dept-of-justice2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.<\/p>\n

Assistant United States Attorney Shardul S. Desai is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.<\/p>\n

The United States Postal Service \u2013 Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.<\/p>\n
