{"id":9962,"date":"2015-02-04T08:43:16","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T13:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=9962"},"modified":"2015-02-04T08:43:16","modified_gmt":"2015-02-04T13:43:16","slug":"former-ky-president-and-treasurer-of-nalc-branch-383-sentenced-for-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/02\/04\/former-ky-president-and-treasurer-of-nalc-branch-383-sentenced-for-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Former KY President and Treasurer of NALC Branch 383 Sentenced For Theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On January 7, 2015, in the McCracken County, Kentucky Circuit Court, David Lynch, former President and Treasurer of National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 383 (located in Paducah, Ky.), was sentenced to three years of incarceration (suspended to 30 days in county jail while on work release) and a minimum of two years of probation with probation continuing until restitution of $15,805 is paid in full.\u00a0 On October 14, 2014, Lynch pled guilty to felony theft by unlawful taking of more than $500 but less than $10,000.\u00a0 The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Cincinnati-Cleveland District Office.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/fraud-and-theft.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8150\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/fraud-and-theft.gif\" alt=\"fraud-and-theft\" width=\"311\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>An<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>indictment<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>is a formal accusation or charge based on a finding by a Grand Jury that it is likely that the person charged committed the criminal offense described in the indictment and is the means by which an accused person (defendant) is brought to trial. An indictment raises no inference of guilt. As in all criminal cases, each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n<p>An<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>information<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>is a formal accusation of a crime by a government attorney rather than a Grand Jury.\u00a0 An information raises no inference of guilt. As in all criminal cases, each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n<p>A<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>charge<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>is an accusation of criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt.
