Many Postal Service retirees begin new careers after leaving USPS, and Brenda Lawrence is no different \u2014 although her new job is unique.<\/p>\n

Lawrence took office this month as U.S. House of Representatives member from Michigan\u2019s 14th Congressional District, which includes eastern Detroit. She retired from USPS in 2008 after 30 years, including serving as a letter carrier.<\/p>\n

\u201cI recall the pride and the sense of responsibility in delivering the U.S. Mail,\u201d Lawrence said in a\u00a0<\/span>statement<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>last week on the House floor.<\/p>\n

She also noted the organization\u2019s recent successes, including delivering approximately\u00a0<\/span>524 million packages<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/span>in December.<\/p>\n
