The United States Postal Service announced Wednesday night that it will close its processing center in Lima, OH. Its district representative said the post office will save $2.2 million annually but cannot substantiate the claim.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t have a breakdown. You\u2019d have to request that through the Freedom of Information Act because a lot of that information is proprietary. I didn\u2019t do the figures; that was done by another area of the post office, so I don\u2019t have a breakdown,\u201d David Walton said. \u201cThat was done by the area. I don\u2019t have a name of who was involved \u2014 it could have been a group of people. I can tell you the study was initiated by the district manager in Cincinnati, Chu Falling Star, and it worked its way up.\u201d<\/p>\n
Local officials of the American Postal Union Workers expect post office leaders to sit down with them soon and detail how the USPS arrived at its findings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bottom line is that we still don\u2019t have anything in writing to confirm her facts and figures yet. Obviously, we\u2019re upset about it but until they meet with the union, we don\u2019t know anymore than the press has heard. We\u2019re waiting and hope they will give us that information when they sit down with us in the very near future,\u201d Treasurer Pat Suever said.
