{"id":8957,"date":"2014-11-06T17:15:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-06T22:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=8957"},"modified":"2014-11-06T17:15:00","modified_gmt":"2014-11-06T22:15:00","slug":"former-south-dakota-apwu-treasurer-charged-with-embezzlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2014\/11\/06\/former-south-dakota-apwu-treasurer-charged-with-embezzlement\/","title":{"rendered":"Former South Dakota APWU Treasurer Charged With Embezzlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>November 06, 2014 &#8211; The former treasurer for the South Dakota APWU, American Postal Workers Union, has been charged in federal court with embezzlement for a theft of more than $36,000 from the union.<\/p>\n<p>Susan Marie Haugen, 55, was indicted on one count of embezzlement and two counts of theft of labor union assets for a series of transactions that took place between May of 2010 and March of 2014. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/dept-of-justice2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8129\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/dept-of-justice2.gif\" alt=\"dept-of-justice2\" width=\"220\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The grand jury accused Haugen of making more than $25,000 in unauthorized cash withdrawals from the APWU\u2019s bank account and using the union\u2019s credit and debit cards to spend another $11,000.
