{"id":8594,"date":"2014-10-02T08:30:23","date_gmt":"2014-10-02T13:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=8594"},"modified":"2014-10-02T08:30:47","modified_gmt":"2014-10-02T13:30:47","slug":"pmg-touts-usps-network-during-tv-interview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2014\/10\/02\/pmg-touts-usps-network-during-tv-interview\/","title":{"rendered":"PMG touts USPS network during TV interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/liteblue.usps.gov\/news\/link\/2014\/10oct\/images\/news02s3.jpg\" alt=\"PMG interview\" width=\"220\" \/><\/div><figcaption>PMG Pat Donahoe discusses the Postal Service\u2019s strengths on \u201cGovernment Matters.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>10.01.2014 &#8211; The Postal Service\u2019s extensive network can handle ongoing increases in package deliveries, PMG Pat Donahoe said during a recent TV news interview.<\/p>\n<p>USPS has experienced significant growth in its package business in recent years and recently<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/liteblue.usps.gov\/news\/link\/2014\/09sep\/news03s1.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>reduced prices<\/em><\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>for high-volume mailers, part of an aggressive push to attract more business customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are actively seeking to grow the package business,\u201d Donahoe<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wjla.com\/articles\/2014\/09\/government-matters---september-21-2014-107383.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>said<\/em><\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>on the \u201cGovernment Matters\u201d public affairs show. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a great network. \u2026 People are out every day \u2014 six days a week, sometimes seven days a week. We\u2019ve got plenty of capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Postal Service\u2019s focus on packages reflects the organization\u2019s commitment to meeting customers\u2019 changing needs, the PMG said. People are sending fewer letters and bill payments through the mail, but they\u2019re shopping more online and having products shipped to their homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got to make some changes in order to get ourselves in a good position cost-wise going forward,\u201d Donahoe said.<\/p>\n<p>USPS also remains committed to its obligation to serve all customers, the PMG said. \u201cWe serve everybody in the United States, including places like Alaska, Guam, Puerto Rico.
