The woman told him she thought she was having a heart attack and asked him to call 911.<\/p>\n<p>Gereffi followed the 911 operator\u2019s instructions and talked with the woman to keep her calm. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/carrier-mark-gereffi.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8031\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/carrier-mark-gereffi.gif\" alt=\"carrier-mark-gereffi\" width=\"220\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While waiting for paramedics to arrive, Gereffi also called the woman\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n<p>When paramedics arrived, they told Gereffi the woman was having a stroke and took her to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Gereffi\u2019s efforts, the woman is recovering.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USPS &#8211; July 14, 2014 When Oakland Park, FL, Letter Carrier Mark Gereffi saw a woman on the ground in front of her home, he rushed to her side.
