Instead, you\u2019ll hear \u2013 once again \u2013 that the Postal Service suffered losses of billions of dollars. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7249\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\" alt=\"1aa-APWU-small\" width=\"295\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The truth is that the Postal Service\u2019s well-publicized financial crisis is a manufactured one. It is the result of the congressional mandate that the Postal Service, alone among all public agencies and private companies, be required to pre-fund future retiree health benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The positive balance sheet continues the steady progress in the finances of the Postal Service, which has been operating at a profit since October 2012.
