The chairman has not announced a new date for the markup. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/1a-NAPUS-small.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6549\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/1a-NAPUS-small.gif\" alt=\"1a-NAPUS-small\" width=\"322\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font: 13px\/19px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 10px; color: #464647; text-transform: none; text-indent: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; word-spacing: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: #ffffff; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;\">As outlined in<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.napus.org\/possible-wedensday-committee-vote-on-new-issa-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\">last week\u2019s Legislative Post<\/a><a style=\"color: #0d5487; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.napus.org\/possible-wedensday-committee-vote-on-new-issa-bill\/\">,<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>the new Issa bill was intended to mimic the postal plan proposed by President Obama and included in the White House fiscal year 2015 budget submission to Congress. The strategy of bringing the President\u2019s plan to the committee for a vote faltered as the result of united Democratic opposition, and GOP discomfort with the provision to permanently extend the 4.3% exigent rate increase. For the chairman, it was essential that the bill emerge from the committee virtually intact, including the exigent rate provision, so he would be able to coax the White House to be its advocate.
